With all the surfcasting talent on My Fishing Cape Cod, let’s see how you can do under tournament conditions! This October 15th we're looking for 25 two angler teams of surfcasters to showcase their striped bass catching talent!

The "24 Hour Grind" My Fishing Cape Cod Surfcasting Tournament will begin at 1pm on Saturday, October 15th and continue until Sunday October 16th at 1pm. As mentioned above this is a team event. There is no cost to join the tournament, but you do have to signup your team in order to participate.

Here are the rules:

  • Tournament will begin at 1pm on Saturday October 15th and end at 1pm on Sunday October 16th. t the end of the tournament all participants are invited to meet for awards, raffle prizes, good conversation and Snowy Owl Coffee at 1:30pm at Sandy Neck Beach in Barnstable.
  • You can fish from shore at any Cape Cod location where it is legal to fish but you must be on the Cape side, (over the Sagamore or Bourne Bridge). The Cape Cod Canal itself is off limits. You may swim or wade to offshore rocks, but you cannot use a boat or kayak.
  • Qualifying striped bass must be at least 22 inches long and must be measured using a bump board with a 90 degree bend. Close the fish's mouth. The nose should touch the bump of the measuring board (the belly is facing you).
  • Entires with an open mouth will receive a deduction penalty of 1 inch, as an open mouth can extend the length of the fish.
  • If the fish's tail is touching the graduation line on the board then that is the exact measurement. If the tail crossed a graduation line, then round up 1/4 of an inch.
  • Teammates must fish together and measure fish together. One teammate should position the fish on the board while the other team snaps a photo. The fish photo needs to include the entire fish on the board.
  • For extra large fish that extend beyond the length of your measuring board, bump the nose of the fish against the 90 degree bend of the board and use a commercial measuring tape to measure the fish. If you can't fit the entire fish in a photo, then use video to video the fish from nose to tail, covering the complete length of the fish.
  • A team's total will be the combined length of your two longest striped bass. The team with the most inches wins!
  • Qualifying striped bass photos (from cell phone) must be presented to MFCC member Mike Marcus at Sandy Neck for verification between 1 pm and 1:30 pm.
